Michael Molter began painting as an autodidact followed by studies at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, the University of Victoria, British Columbia, and Université du Québec in Montréal. His early work in oils was based on still life and landscapes studies, from prairie sunsets to the Canadian Rockies, and portraiture. His journeys via mixed media painting since then have produced a large body of oil and acrylic paintings and works on paper found in private collections from Australia, to Britain, Canada, Europe and the United States. He has worked as an independent art critic and curator based in Montreal since 1990. He previously lived in both Paris and London and has toured European art institutions at consular invitation in Belgium, Britain, France, Germany and The Netherlands.
